This week we put some focus on two core principles from the European Commission –the way we treat our data, and the way we treat each other. That is, we took part in seminars and discussions on attended a session on the FAIR principles, which form cornerstones of the European Commission and the way we store and disseminate information, and on Gender Equality. The lecture on FAIR principles was organised by HS Academy in the lecture series “Current Topics in Heritage Science”. The Lecture was an introduction to the main practices of open science and why all researchers should start moving towards more open work in archaeology. We discussed the benefits of practising open science and also touched upon barriers that have to be overcome. FAIR principles are a core part of the MSCA actions, and one of the first articles that we will submit during the fellowship will be exactly on this topic – on data reliability, reproducibility, transparency in reporting and encouraging others working in histology studies to adhere to such principles. More to follow!
