Today, we’re stepping into the ring for a FIGHT! But don’t worry—it’s all in the spirit of friendly competition. We’re taking part in SUMO SCIENCE, an exciting contest as part of the Marie Curie Championship Sharper 2024/25!
The event is described as follows:“A special tournament, starting in early 2025, dedicated to European researchers holding Marie Curie grants—one of the most prestigious postdoctoral fellowships funded by the European Union. The challenges take place throughout the 2024/2025 school year, both online and in person, following a classic tennis tournament format: the winner advances, the loser is eliminated. The judges? Students from schools across Italy!”
So, let’s lace up our gloves and bring out our best science!
Update: Well, that was one intense match! We fought bravely, but in the end, we had to throw in the towel. My opponent wowed the students from the Technical Lyceum with his research on aerodynamics and Formula 1 engines — tough competition! That said, I still firmly believe that Neanderthal bones are WAY cooler! 😉 But if I must lose, I’m glad it was to a brilliant fellow researcher with fascinating applications for his work. Congrats, Pawel, and until next time!
